Step 6: Results simulation
Goals
In real research, you woud obtain your results, plot it in graphs and extract conclusions from the evidences. As we are not in a laboratory, we will analyze data from real research to predict which would be the expectable results for our experiment, and reconstruct as a simulation the results of your experiment. Print and use the Results Simulation file to collect the data.
How to proceed
- MT3 is a real gene from Mus musculus, and there are several articles about its relationship with neurodegenerative diseases as Alzheimer. You have abstracts from several articles, extracted from the NCBI PubMed Database, a database where all the articles published in scientific journals of biomedical research are listed. Read the proposed abstracts and fill the table selecting arguments for a role of inducing neurodegeneration or protecting against neurodegeneration.
Download the Results Simulation file
- Decide from the data collected in the table from the previous step which is the most probable role of MT3/Snf4 in neurodegeneration (induction / protection).
- Take your "Designing an experiment" file and select which scenario fits best with the real role (induction / protection) of MT3/Snf4. Construct a graphic of expectable data that could lead the data from this scenario, with imaginary data. Get inspired with the Graph examples document.
