GondwanaTales

Continental Drift and Plate Tectonics

Assessment

Student's Productions - Objects of Evaluation

At the end of the activity, students will present:

Team Work

  • The Worksheets with the partial conclusions
  • A document showing the explanation on the evolution of the position and shape of the continents
  • A storyboard of the video
  • A science dissemination video

Video Evaluation Criteria

The video will be qualified based on:

  • Present a comprehensive description of the changes in the shapes and positions of the continents
  • Localize the edges of the tectonic plates, and describe which kind of plate limits are (constructive, destructive, transformant)
  • Justify your conclusions on data
  • Identify the parts of the map you weren't able to solve and explain which are your hypothesis and the controverted/lacking data
  • Use all the terms of the scientific vocabulary
  • Creativity, use of models or devices
  • Edition quality: light, sound, image transitions

Individual Work - Portfolio

Students maintain a portfolio throughout the project demonstrating their individual learning journey.

Other Assessment Outputs

During the Project sessions, students work on their own, and discuss about scientific evidences.

The teacher will listen to their discussions (can also participate, but just add more questions - don't give answers!) and take note of interesting participations of good scientific skills (constructing hypothesis, extracting conclusions...).

This might be included in students' assessments.
